The Dry: Black Women’s Legacy in a Farming Community
Join us in celebrating the opening of The Dry: Black Women’s Legacy in a Farming Community, exploring the little-known history of a predominantly Black farming community in southeast Colorado, and the powerful women who helped build and sustain it.
Discover stories of family and perseverance from the Craig Family, former residents, and stewards of The Dry’s legacy. Dexter Nelson II, our Associate Curator of African American History and Cultural Heritage, will also be on hand to discuss how History Colorado is working to preserve The Dry’s history, and other stories of the Black experience in Colorado. Light refreshments and a cash bar will be available. The museum’s third floor mezzanine will be open.
This reception is free and open to the public, but registration is required.
