Mapping Prejudice In Denver

The Great Depression was the worst economic downturn in the history of the industrialized world, spanning 1929 to 1939. Social tensions were high in the United States and racial prejudice had already permeated throughout Colorado for the world to see. Colorado’s racism went on full display at the  1893 Chicago World Fair  and the celebrated  Denver African Expedition in 1925 .

The Rocky Mountain NAACP proudly serves as the state conference of the National Association for the Advancement of Colored People. The Rocky Mountain State Conference works to serve the community to bring about equality, equity, and social justice as part of the 114-year history of the NAACP.
